Shmeissani Interchange
A four level interchange in Abdali-Amman

Project description

Laceco was selected by the Greater Amman Municipality to design an interchange that would constitute the western gateway of Abdali, and would provide a direct access to all possible destination and to solve the traffic conflict and congestion in a vital location for Amman New Downtown.

The brief

  • To find a permanent solution for traffic congestion,
  • Provide direct link to all directions

Our response

Laceco responded to the above needs by:

  • Proposing to upgrade the existing at grade intersection to a multi-level interchange consisting of  five bridges (length 100m to 200m and width 10m to 18m), two tunnels (100m to 160m), 1 at grade roundabout and three technical underground areas
  • Designing for all required storm drainage, electrical services and utilities relocations re-instatement as needed

Interesting facts

  • Finding the optimal solution that provides accessibility to all probable destinations with minimum land expropriation while ensuring the additional vertical clearances required by the client
